Welcome Juhm

MGMT welcomes Juhm to the family.

If you’ve spent any time on TikTok lately, chances are you’ve come across Juhm the Los Angeles–based creator bringing witty takes on fashion, matcha & pop culture moments. He’s built a devoted audience who can’t get enough of his takes. He has coined the terms “minuscule energy” and “Body Matcha” & they have become part of his signature content style. With more than 117,000 followers and a staggering 20 million likes on TikTok.

My name is Juhm and I'm from Guinea. I moved to the Bronx, New York, when I was 10. I recently moved to LA about a year ago.

My first love was modelling. I remember being 14 and running around Manhattan by myself, competing with adults. Casting directors would often tell me, "You are a minor, you need your parents with you." My parents were so busy that they couldn’t attend casting calls with me. My love for modelling and fashion still exists, and I would love to attend fashion weeks and work with fashion brands in the future.

Fast forward, I had to let go of modelling due to the restrictions from casting directors who refused to see me without my parents. I then discovered my passion for acting, but I knew my accent would limit my opportunities. However, I still attend classes and take dialect lessons to improve my skills.

How Did You Get Started in Your Industry?

I used to post memes that were really popular during COVID, but I knew that for the industry to take me seriously, I had to start creating videos that they envisioned me in. So, when I moved to LA, I deleted all of my social media accounts and started over. I was so scared, wondering "What did I just do?" I was also worried about how people would react to my personality and my voice since they had never heard them before. So when I started blowing up and going viral for being funny and very one kept saying “oh you are such a breath of fresh air” and that “I’m relatable”. I had to lock in and I started posting 10-15 videos a day and going to take pictures by myself.

What Sets You Apart From Others in Your Field?

What sets me apart from others is my personality, accent, fashion sense and uniqueness.

Favourite Brand Collaboration

My favourite brand that I have worked with is Sweetgreen! I am obsessed with them and have been going there since I was a pre-teen, so working with them now feels like a full-circle moment.

What's Coming Up Next?

I'm working on building Body Matcha into a bigger brand than just a catch phrase and Juhm
